Winter Waterland

Winter is here.

With winter, comes a lack of humidity because cold air simply cannot hold moisture the same way warm air does. Heating units pull the cold outside air inside, artificially re-creating the warmth of spring and summer. This artificial heat can further deplete our home’s humidity, leaving our skin dry and our consciousness stagnant.

As we enter into the new year, many of us are evaluating our past year, reflecting on behaviors of personal significance and experiences that brought us joy and grief. These emotions are natural and healthy. We need to let go of these emotions that are weighing down our dull and sluggish consciousness. By letting go of last year’s baggage, we can create space for renewal and rejuvenation.

Water is the lifeline connecting us to Mother Earth.

Water circulates through our bodies like rivers flowing through nature. During the winter months, when we are not outside connecting with nature as often, we may forget the importance of water. Water in the winter has a twofold purpose hydrating our consciousness and moisturizing our skin.

We cannot survive without water.

Water is nurturing, replenishing, cleansing, and purifying. Water is the conduit through which energy flows, delivering nutrients throughout our bodies. We drink water to flush out the toxins from our system. We drink water to fuel our consciousness, opening our third eye to flow with our spiritual and cognitive abilities. We drink water to let our healthy bodies glow, to find and feel our true inner beauty that radiates from the inside out.

A glass of water with the words " hey, drink water more ".

Our physical bodies are mostly water.

The amount of water we each should be drinking per day is not a one size fits all approach. One recommendation is to drink, at a minimum, half an ounce of water per pound you weigh. We all don’t drink from the same kind of glass either. What kind of glass do you drink from? Are you an optimist, is your glass half full? Are you a pessimist,  is your glass half empty?  Are you a realist,  is the glass the wrong size? Are you a pragmatist, the glass is always full, with water and air!

Let's Bring the Water Inside to Us!

A bath tub with soap and salt in it

When winter is here, we cannot enjoy the rivers, lakes, and oceans of our summer playgrounds.

Bathing is a natural wonderful way to relax and provide the space for self-care. Try some of these Goddess To The Core bathing rituals to ring in the new year, the new mind, and the new you:

  • Take a bath weekly with sea salt and your all-natural essential oils to soften your skin, cleanse your aura and energetic field, becoming more in tune with your emotions and intuition.
  • While taking a shower every morning, visualize all the accumulated toxins, from head to toe, being exfoliated from your skin and spiraling down the drain.
  • Next time you come across a natural spring, river, lake, or ocean, bless yourself with the water and give thanks for its life force.

After your daily shower and weekly bath, pat your skin dry leaving it slightly damp. This is the optimal time to apply your favorite all-natural face creams and body lotions.
